    Tore down 3 AR's today

Gonna put 4 AR barrels on a diet.
    yep turning them all down.
how skinny can I go on 22LR? I'm thinking about .500
7.62x39? Thinking about tapering from original chamber OD down to .575 at gas block, .570 gas block to muzzle.
.308? Thinking the same, orig OD chamber tapered down to .575 at gas block, .570 gas block to muzzle?
i'm gonna take some measurements from a 10/22 barrel, Faxon .308 and 7.62x39 pencil weight barrels and a FAL barrel and go from there.
i'll let you know when I blow one out!!
tell me your thoughts on the skinny!!

Yeah, maybe I shouldn't go that thin on the .308.
i'm really not too worried about the others

One thing I've experienced over the years with turning barrels down is some of them tend to warp. May have to set up a bending jig to straighten them when you are finished. Stresses in the metal tend to show up
more when they are turned down in diameter.
My Sig self identifies as a slingshot, therefore if you don't let it in a gun free zone you are a biggot and a Racist

Well, didn't work out like I planned.
I had the CMMG barrel turned down to .545 from chamber to muzzle and cut 1.25" from muzzle and rethread and recrown. It removed almost 12oz.
I pinned and welded the flash hider.
It shot Extremely reliable but shooting way left and forgot my tools. Remounting handguards and barrel nut to see if something is tweeked. Gonna reshoot.
the other 2 barrels, well, he said he couldn't taper them like I wanted so I'm gonna think about what I want to do with them.
otherwise the lathe work and cut and crown look real good on the one barrel.

Do you mind sharing who did the work?

Glad the one is shooting descent.

They make a .545 gas block?
